Shoot for the Stars: A Record-Breaking Year for Middle Schools
Reading is the key to success; it opens doors and provides for amazing opportunities.
This year, Commissioner of Education John L Winn is challenging Florida’s middle school students to make
2006 a year of breaking records in reading. With fun contests and great prizes, middle school students across
the state can shoot for the stars and help themselves and their schools win big!
The first contest is “Commissioner Winn’s FCAT Reading Scores Challenge.”
Schools that better both their percentage meeting high standards in reading and their percentage making
learning gains in reading will win prizes – and the school that shows the most improvement of all wins the grand prize!
